Prenatal Care
Dr. Jeremy DiMartino has taken over 180 hours of continuing education to further his skill in caring for the prenatal patient. Proper chiropractic care during this very important time in a woman's life is an essential component to the growth and development of not only the new life inside of her, but for her as well. As with all the patients that are treated by Dr. DiMartino the pregnant patients' treatment is not only focused on the physical structural correction, but treatment also includes nutritional guidance to ensure the mother and baby are getting the proper nutrients needed for proper development.
The growth of a fetus inside of a woman puts excess stress on certain structures of the body, especially around the neck, shoulder, low back, and pelvic region. Pregnancy is a natural, wonderful process that should be embraced and enjoyed. Our goal is to help reduce the stress placed on both the mother and fetus during this process so that the experience of pregnancy can be appreciated.
The changes that take place structurally within a woman can cause some pain during this process and unbeknownst to many woman can effect the way the baby is being carried, in turn putting undue stress on the fetus. This type of joint dysfunction (subluxation) pulls on the structures of the uterus, causing that already small "home" for that fetus to become even smaller and putting undue stress on the growth of the baby. This type of stress if left untreated could possibly be the cause of a breach position of the baby, prolong labor and delivery, cause unnecessary pain during pregnancy, or cause many other issues to arise. The goal of treatment is to reduce the effects of subluxation and /or joint dysfunction, in so doing the neurobiomechanical function in the sacral/pelvic region is improved. Chiropractic care during this integral time in a mother and baby's life is very safe and effective and should be used to assist the mother's body in doing what it already knows how to do - providing a viable, loving, supporting home for the proper development of her baby!
